Sustainability
A vision we aspire to lead
Being a global brand as well as being human and the natural desire to leave a better world for future generations result in sustainability goals that are both a responsibility and a vision we aspire to lead.
Sustainable Fashion & Eco-Friendly Production
Our brands, which have cemented trust and loyalty to our brands in the global fashion industry, have been working for five years to produce contemporary and wearable pieces by combining the art of production without compromising the needs of future generations.
All company activities and our production factories in Giresun adopt a respect for nature mission, focusing our efforts on reducing resource consumption and carbon emissions. At Orka Holding, our goal is to produce 80% of our collections from sustainable fabrics by the end of 2025. We continue to work tirelessly to achieve this goal.
Responsible Consumption and Production
We act with an awareness of our responsibility towards the environment and the world by using natural resources efficiently both in resource consumption and in our production processes.
Climate Action
We contribute to the fight against climate change with recycling, advanced transformation, energy savings, and alternative business models.
We embrace sustainable fashion and textiles as our vision for a livable world. From cotton production to the final product, we adopt an eco-friendly production approach. We conduct all our business processes in compliance with the 10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Practices
We embrace the vision of a livable world with sustainable fashion and textile products.
Sustainable fashion means implementing all our production, logistics, and retail processes with a sustainable approach for a livable world.
In our sample services, we reduce resource usage thanks to platforms that perform 3D drawing.
At our Giresun Giteks facilities, we implement practices such as filtration processes to prevent air and water pollution, rainwater storage, and the use of solar panels.
We know that the logistics stage following production is one of the most important aspects related to sustainability. To contribute to green logistics, we use the Milk Run Management System. Through this collaboration, we use boxes made from recycled plastic instead of cardboard, labels made from recycled paper, and seals made from bioplastic produced from olive pits. These practices in logistics alone have helped us save a total of 213,000 trees and reduce our carbon footprint by 49,927 kg in two months.
In our stores around the world, we prevent unnecessary consumption and pay careful attention to saving electricity and water.
Leading Steps in Zero Waste and Recycling
We ensure that environmental awareness is embraced by everyone in our company through five training programs titled Clean Environment-Recycling and Zero Waste, Clean Environment-Ecological Balance, Clean Environment-Environmental Sensitivity, Digital Devices and Our Environment, and Environmental Awareness.
In line with our collaboration with the circular recycling movement Nivogo, we take idle and unsellable products from companies, refurbish them, and put them back on the market.
By 2025, we aim to produce 90% of our collections from recycled materials.
Education and Development
At Orka Holding, we have taken significant steps to create a strong ecosystem with our sustainability investments. Our approach to sustainability is holistic, evaluating the risks our planet faces and establishing a human resources culture that will implement corrective and preventive activities. This forms the basis of our Human Resources philosophy. In this context, our Human Resources – Education and Development departments play an active role in designing the company culture that will implement the necessary strategies for sustainability and in creating the necessary level of awareness among employees.
The training, development, and cultivation of employees and leaders who possess environmental consciousness and responsibility values are considered within the responsibility scope of our Human Resources department. Ork Holding’s corporate culture supports gender equality and respects human rights, valuing the diversity of its employees.
Leading Education and Development Programs in Competency Development
At Orka Holding, we have been conducting training and development activities that enhance the competencies of our team, enabling them to perform their duties with high performance, thereby paving their career paths, since our foundation. With our in-house Orka Academy, our aim is to create continuously developing professionals who believe in continuous improvement, produce timely and quick solutions with an analytical perspective, have strong communication skills, and particularly create a sustainable human resource. Orka Academy has a significant mission within the company to transform potential into performance and merge company goals with personal goals. Orientation programs are organized in both online and offline formats for centers and stores specifically to help new employees more easily adapt to their new roles by familiarizing them with the corporate culture, organizational structure, and end-to-end business processes.
Individual development plans that include professional, technical, and personal development trainings for our entire team are designed based on the combination of training needs analyzed from performance evaluation results, sectoral developments, and our company goals, and are shaped according to the competencies required for each position. Our training plans are developed in collaboration with expert training companies and established universities. Istanbul University and Kültür University are among the universities with which we conduct continuous education programs. There are one hundred seventy-nine (179) main topics in personal development and professional training programs developed in collaboration with various institutions, covering Analytical Management, Data-Driven Decision Making Techniques, Retail Management, Store Mathematics, Emotional Intelligence in Communication, and others. Participation in summits, seminars, and conferences is also planned.
Leadership in Remote Education by Reducing Carbon Footprint
In creating our Annual Training Plan, we opt for remote training organization, taking into account the environmental costs such as travel for overseas and domestic trips, and meeting and accommodation organization, to reduce our carbon footprint. We mitigate the adverse effects on the environment by conducting meetings via online meetings.
On our e-learning portal, Orkaakademi.com, we offer all internal training programs. In addition to professional training, a wide range of trainings including Orientation, On-the-Job Training, Occupational Health and Safety, Sales and Service Principles modules are provided online to our entire team. Current announcements and surveys are conducted through the system.
We have developed various tools to leverage digital resources in education. In this context, a Training Library has been established on Orkaakademi.com, corporate booklets have been published online, video-based trainings have been developed, and assessments are now conducted through e-exams.
Decisive Steps Towards Sustaining Human Resources
The trainings aim at individual development planning for the next position, focusing on fundamental functional and leadership competencies. The career plan includes digital indicators for performance, competency, technical skills, and verbal and numerical perception, and every employee who succeeds in these criteria is prepared for the next position.
